Alan Fraser
Alan Fraser is a pianist, teacher, and author originally from Montreal. Inspired by Vladimir Horowitz’s unique touch and fascinated by the connection between movement and sound, he began practicing Tai Chi in 1979 to explore how physical organization influences musical expression. Further studies with Phil Cohen, Tom Plaunt, and later Kemal Gekić in Yugoslavia deepened his insights into piano technique.
Concurrently, Fraser trained in the Feldenkrais Method to refine his approach, aiming to unite weight technique, expressive gesture, and structural awareness of the body. Now based in Belgrade, Serbia, he continues to perform, present at international conferences, and publish books on piano technique. In 2011, he founded the Alan Fraser Piano Institute, which offers workshops in Europe and North America.
