This week, we’ll explore two closely connected domains: the challenges of musculoskeletal rehabilitation following an injury and neurorehabilitation & neurodegenerative challenges, addressing conditions such as Parkinson’s, post-stroke recovery, multiple sclerosis, and more.

Filip Descheemaeker and Tina Van Eeckhoven, both alumni of Feldenkrais Education and practicing physiotherapists, will share insights into how Feldenkrais strategies can be effectively applied in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Their expertise as teachers and clinicians will provide a practical perspective on integrating these methods into therapeutic practice.

In the second part of the event, a short documentary will feature Helga Bost, who draws on 30 years of experience working with clients with spinal cord injuries, focusing on restoring movement below the point of paralysis. In an interview, Gerlinde Haase will discuss her clinical work with MS and stroke patients, highlighting innovative applications of Feldenkrais in neurorehabilitation. Finally, Marie-France Rouyer will share her 20+ years of experiences using the Feldenkrais Method in hospitals.

The event will conclude with a Q&A session with Filip & Tina.

This week's 5 lessons

5 Feldenkrais Lessons for Gentle, Active Recovery

Whether you’re experiencing restricted movement due to injury, pain, surgery, or stress, Feldenkrais lessons offer a powerful way to regain ease, fluidity, and agency in daily life. By drawing on various learning strategies—such as sensory imagery, strategic constraints, gravity-based exploration, building confidence through small, slow, and pleasant movements, focusing on abilities, and using imagination when a movement is painful or limited—these lessons foster an active and engaging process of recovery.

You’ll also discover how small changes can lead to significant improvements, how to identify underlying habits that can trigger recurring issues, and how shifting from a purely biomechanical approach to a neuromechanical (awareness-based) perspective can help you move more freely. This week’s Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lessons offer a gentle, playful way to reconnect with yourself and reintroduce previously excluded or forgotten movement options into your personal repertoire.
