This week's 5 lessons

The Evolution of movement in 5 Lessons : from aquatic movements to walking… and then riding !

This week’s Evolution of Movement series traces the fascinating journey of locomotion, from the fluid undulations of aquatic life to the refined coordination of walking—and beyond. We begin by exploring early aquatic-like movements, where the body moves in waves, much like fish gliding through water. As movement transitions to land, we follow the reptilian and amphibian patterns, where crawling and limb coordination lay the groundwork for walking. From there, we step into bipedalism, refining balance, weight shifts, and the intricate interplay between legs, pelvis, and spine that allow us to walk upright. But movement doesn’t stop there. Beyond walking, we explore riding, where dynamic stability and responsiveness create a new way of moving—not just with our own body, but in harmony with another. This series is an invitation to experience how movement has evolved over time and how these patterns continue to shape the way we move today.
